Matching, introductions and homechecks

Our team carefully reviews enquiry forms and matches potential adopters with suitable dogs. We usually encourage adopters to visit the dog either in kennels or in their foster homes if the dog is already based in the UK. If a dog is coming from overseas, then we will refer you initially to one of the team that deals with overseas adoptions. You will still get full support from the UK team once the dog has arrived here.

We do a video based homecheck to make sure your home is suitable for the dog you've chosen. Don't worry, we have dogs living in lots of different kinds of homes: apartments, canal boats, farms....once we have completed our homecheck, we'll arrange introductions to see if it's a good fit for everyone involved.

Adoption

Once a match is made and everyone is happy, we finalise the adoption! We provide ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new furry family member. This support is for the life of your dog, not just for a few days, weeks or months. We will always do our best to help you and your furry family member, no matter what the issue is.

You will need to sign an adoption agreement which has a number of terms and conditions contained in it. If there is an adoption fee, this will need to be paid before you collect your dog.

For dogs travelling from overseas, we will give you a pet passport and information about blood screening tests that the dog has had, vaccinations etc. The process for adopting a dog from overseas is different, so please do talk to our team in detail about the process and ask as many questions as you can.
